Jason connected with us so he could share his collection and passion for the New Era brand with fellow New Era enthusiasts. But he also did so for another reason; to raise awareness for Moebius Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects his daughter Mia. Germany-based collector Benjamin Hickisch – AKA NEHectorius – started off purchasing pro sports caps but now only exclusively collects character-inspired caps, and he’s amassed quite an impressive collection – over 200 caps and counting! John Chapman from Mississauga, Ontario stays fresh on a daily basis with his deep New Era collection. Mr. Chapman has a few rules he stands by 1) never wear the same fitted in the same week and 2) absolutely with no exceptions should you ever wear the same hat twice in a row. If you ever see John around make sure you don’t touch or remove the hat off of his head, it’s one of his pet peeves. Don’t worry John, it’s one of ours too. Something you may not know about Ernesto is that his collection isn’t just limited to On-Field caps, he once witnessed a 59FIFTY giving birth, and he has a degree is psychology! Arizona’s Mason Stoffey has stacks on stacks of New Era fitted hats but the art of collecting caps was passed on from his father to him. His father’s collection consisted of minor league hats but Mason will add any hat that he feels stands out to him like the New Era 59Fifty Anniversary collection. SFGrippy is a mysterious character in the cap-collecting community. Known for being a die-hard SF Giants fan and for his signature shot, where he shows off his caps, revealing only part of his face. (Except for those few times when he has shown his whole face….perhaps that wasn’t really him?) We tracked SFGrippy down at his secret Bay-Area hideout for a Cap Talk interview, where he decided to shed the mask and reveal more of his identity. Alex Mitchell, AKA SFGrippy, is San Francisco – born and raised, a craft beer drinker, baseball nut, Bay Area music playlist curator, and a New Era cap enthusiast. He has a degree in marketing, likes to walk his dog, eat delicious sandwiches, and BBQ meat for large groups of people.
