10. Galaxy Glow in The Dark New Era 59Fifty Fitted Cap
In 2012, New Era dropped the Galaxy 59Fifty fitted during the NBA All Star Break, to coincide with the release of the much-hyped Foamposite One Galaxy Nike sneakers. They kept the tradition alive during this year’s NBA All Star Break by dropping another Galaxy cap, topping last year’s version. This fitted features an all-over pattern of twinkling stars, but it’s when the lights go out that this hat really shines; it glows a spooky bright green! Walking around with this cap on at night – no matter what city, country or galaxy you are in – you will be sure to turn heads.
9. New Era X Wilson NFL 9Fifty Snapback
In 2012, New Era acquired the rights to make NFL hats, becoming the “Official Headwear” of the league. This was a dream come true for football fans and cap enthusiasts, who were finally able wear their favorite NFL Teams and logos on New Era products. Wilson Sporting Goods Co, maker of the official NFL game football, also recognized what a momentous occasion this was for these two brands by releasing this 9Fifty snapback made with authentic on-field leather. The NFL logo is proudly displayed on the front of the cap, along with the New Era logo embroidered on the side. This hat was also meant to commemorate the NFL International Series game at London’s Wembley stadium, where the St. Louis Rams hosted a game against the New England Patriots. Only 6 of these caps were made, and they did not come cheap, selling for $400 at the New Era Stratford Flagship Store. Those high rollin’ NFL fans lucky enough to score a touch-down by purchasing one of these snapbacks can now boast to all of their friends that they are bigger football fans, because not only do they toss around the ol’ pig skin on weekends, but they also wear it on their heads!
8. Marvel X New Era Iron Man Metallic Effect 59Fifty Fitted Cap
Currently, there is no shortage of comic character-inspired metallic-effect hats. The one that started it all was this Iron Man fitted, released by New Era in 2008 to coincide with the first Iron Man movie. The cap is a replica of Tony Stark’s mask from the blockbuster film. New Era and Marvel used the shiny metallic effect and captured the essence of the Iron Man character on a 59Fifty cap. Whoever was lucky enough to get their hands on this hat is about as close as most of us will come to being able to wear Iron Man’s mask and to imagine what it’s like to be a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist, as well as a member of the Avengers. Ladies: if your boyfriend or husband tells you he wouldn’t wear this hat, he is lying, because deep down all of us men want to be Iron Man. Just ask Ghostface Killah.

Brains!!!! Undead head-bashing is at an all-time high due to the popularity of The Walking Dead TV series. Wearing it on any day that is not Halloween will probably have others scared for you. Whenever you do decide to rock this hat, just don’t try and use it to frighten someone who has been up past their bed time watching The Walking Dead. That situation may not end well.
6. Peace, Love, and Understanding X New Era Studded Tartan Kilt Du Rag 59Fifty Fitted Cap
Thought the day would never come, when you would be able to rock a spiked fitted with a tartan tail kilt du-rag attachment? Well, you were wrong. If you do decide to spend the money and wear this cap in public, there is no doubt that people will think you are a very awesome and unique individual, but don’t revel in the attention for too long. Rihanna was recently seen in one of these hats. So, it’s only a matter of time before we will all be wearing spiked fitteds with detachable Du Rag kilts. Will these caps be the next Shutter Shades?
5. JC De Castelbajac Concept Lego New Era 59Fifty Fitted Cap
Lego has been inspiring the creativity of children and adults alike for generations, showing that almost anything can be built with simple blocks. In 2009, French designer JC De Castelbajac created a series of concept Lego New Era caps for a fashion show. The standout piece was this attention-grabbing hat that features bright coloured blocks with a Mohawk design at the top. The bottom of the visor displays the 59Fifty sticker, to show this was an authentic collaboration. With this cap, JC De Castelbajac proved that anything can be created with Lego – even the iconic New Era fitted!
4. Marvel Comics X New Era The Beast 59Fifty Fitted Cap
Hank McCoy, one of the founding members of the X-Men, is a renaissance man in the comic book world. He is brilliant, with an affinity for the arts and sciences, and he is a doctor, math teacher, and political activist! He also possesses super human strength, speed and agility! Mr. Hank McCoy is also covered in blue fur, usually walks around half naked, and is known to most people simply as Beast. In 2008, New Era and Marvel paid homage to the Beast character by releasing this fitted covered in bushy bright blue fake fur – the embodiment of Beast on a 59 Fifty cap. If you purchased this hat, you are probably a die-hard X-Men fan with no qualms about wearing a hat adorned with blue faux fur outside of the house, and why should you have any? After all, Beast is a renaissance man, and with this cap on, everyone will think you are one as well.
3. Mishka X New Era Keep Watch Size 16 59Fifty Fitted Cap – The World’s Largest Fitted
NYC street wear brand, Mishka, believes bigger is better. In 2009, they approached New Era to create the world’s largest fitted, because they felt like it. 2. Jeremy Scott X New Era Arab Spring 59 Fifty Fitted Cap
Whether you love or hate his designs, it cannot be denied that Jeremy Scott has no fear when it comes to
breaking the rules in fashion and style. He proves this once again with his upcoming Spring/Summer 2013 New Era collaboration, entitled Arab Spring. The pieces in this collection draw inspiration from Middle Eastern culture, clothing and style. The craziest cap in this drop making its way on our list is this shiny black patent crocodile leather fitted that features gold frills hanging off of the whole hat! This is perhaps Scott’s interpretation of a modern-day flashy Middle Eastern veil. If you wear this cap when it is released, then just like Jeremy Scott, you are probably not afraid to break the rules in regards to fashion and style. Just don’t rock it with a pair of Jeremy Scott X Adidas Pink Poodle sneakers. That may be pushing it.
1. Star Wars X New Era Chewbacca 59Fifty Dog Ear Fitted Cap
A long time ago (2009) in markets far away (UK & Japan) Star Wars and New Era collaborated on a series of caps that featured metallic-effect droids, all-over pattern bounty hunters and a shiny black patent leather Sith Lord. Many characters from the Star Wars universe were featured in this drop, with most of the hats being wacky enough to make our list. The craziest of them all is this dog ear 59Fifty fitted paying homage to everyone’s favorite Wookie wing man: Chewbacca. The cap features Chewbacca’s face on the front of the cap, with real Wookie fur on the dog ears to keep you warm during the snowy winter months (Hey, it’s better than living in Tauntaun’s cut-open stomach to beat the cold weather) The bottom of the visor displays an image of Chewie and his BFF Han Solo, from the original Star Wars films. A word of caution: if you own this cap, wear it not on a Saturday night, unless you are comfortable with people trying to pet your head and showing you their best Wookie call impressions for the whole evening. I once wore my Chewbacca fitted out for a night and thought a good idea would it be. Wrong I was.
