Montreal’s a dope place to live whats the selection of baseball hats like up there?
The hat game is available thanks to the local shops like Lids, but mostly thanks to the web sites for unique caps.
How did you manage to acquire your own cap wall?
I was in a local store and the manager told me that all the goods in the store was for sale. That is when I ask him if the new era racks was for sale. After a discussion on the price, I took 65 of thems.
Which team means the most to you? Montreal Expos, Montreal Canadians, Montreal Allouettes?
This is an easy question, even though Montreal is known as a city of hockey, I’m not a big fan of Canadians. My team is the Montreal Expos is a history that dates back to my first job at the Olympic Stadium. Although the Expos are no longer part of the MLB, the Expos will always be part of my heart.
When and how did you get started collecting New Era hats?
Around 2003-2004, I was about to play in a baseball league and I needed a cap to look like the pros, fell in love with the fit and that how the love story started.
What was your first New Era?
My first one was the original blue Montreal Expos cap.
How many caps do you have?
At the time of this writing, I have 201 caps, but I have about 20 hats that are coming through internet orders.
What is your go to cap?
If I’m in a hurry, I’ll go with the classic New York Yankees with a patch on the side.
Out of your whole collection which piece is most unique?
I will say the Montreal Expos cap that I create during my trip to New Era headquarters in June. This hat is everything to me.
Can you talk to us more about the hat with the hot dog logo in baby blue? What team is that and where did you get it?
It’s the authentic road cap from the Reading Fightin Phils, the minor league team of the Phillies. I found that cap on the internet and I was like damn that logo is just awesome and decided to buy it. After a little search, I bought it on the mlb shop website.
What is your all time favorite New Era release?
I would say, the World Series patches cap. They have that small thing that give more to the cap. It’s one of my friend who initiate me to the patches and right now I have like 60 patches.
What inspires your selection of cap before leaving the house?
It’s hard to choose, If I already have a cap in mind, I will match my t-shirt with it. If not, it could easily take up to 10 minutes to choose my hat. But I always have a cap-rack with me, so I always have 4-5 caps on me.
Do you wear every cap in your collection?
Yes, I try to rotate among my caps. I want to show them all.
You clearly have a preference for fitteds – how do you feel about snapbacks?
I have no feeling for snapbacks haha. It’s fitted or nothing for me.
Thoughts on the whole snapback revival? – Trend or here to stay?
At the start it’s was a trend, but I will say it’s here to stay, but it doesn’t have the same impact.
What one piece of advice do you have for fellow cap collectors?
Be original, be yourself and speak with your cap. Doesn’t matter if you have 65 or 300 hats. You have to be proud of what you accomplish.
Any final words?
I would like to give a shout out to all my friends in the #CrewEra13.
