I can't remember what thread it was but I know a few people were making a big deal out of this hat, Hat Club released a custom that seems to be very similar, and it seems fairly accurate.

Link isn't working, but I found it on their site

I think it's an awesome reproduction, too bad the panels in the front don't curve like they're supposed to though Sad Might be my next purchase when I go to Phoenix this Friday!

What a shame! So close yet so far. The orange eyelets inside the bell and the overall bell shape kill it for me. At least it doesnt have a NE flag or MLB batterman on the back. I'm praying Mickeys Place comes through with the real deal Cooperstown Collection one's again!

Ugh...... What the hell happened!?!?!?! The new taco bell caps are awful! What went wrong? They look like the American Needle "9 deep" version.

Too bad that the Padres don't sell their Taco Bell caps more openly. I can't wait until I can pick one up at the team shop in July.

They have this at MyFitteds. I know that their side-patches are interwoven into the caps and can be removed in the same fashion as a NE Flag. Anyone see any problems with this cap in regards to history? If not might snag 2 and operate on 1 of them.

Flag on the side, MLB logo on the back, grey underbrim

I meant in regards to logo and "taco" curve on the crown, etc. I know they have all that other jazz. Should have been more specific, sorry.

My bad, I have no idea on that part but it does look a lot different than the Hat Club one at least...

It is fairly close to the 70's style cap. The "SD" embroidery looks a little dark - almost black - instead of the brown of the original. The raised stitching also makes the "D" look weird. They should interlock instead of having the "D" entirely over the "S".

I believe the button was yellow instead of brown.

Otherwise, the curve of the yellow bell is close, but is a little too uniform. The originals had a bell shape where the curve was a little steeper and flattened out near the bill.

Here is a pretty good example of an 80's version that has the added orange trim and eyelets. The 70's version would be closer to the pic you posted.

I have this cap. It is the best reproduction of the curve of any reproduction that has been made. Yes, the button should be yellow, there should be no logoman, there should be no patch and the undervisor should be green, but all in all, the look of the cap is closest to the original, and I own several originals to compare it to.

Incredible that they can more or less get the All-Star retro right, and then mess these up so badly. New Era should be ashamed of themselves for the quality issues over the past few years. The sizing out of China is horrendous, and now things like this.

I would think that if they advertize a hat as a a specific size, and the hat delivered is not that size, they should offer free exchanges including postage. I have written them several times about this issue and I never even receive a response.
