Yeah buying online sucks. I spend at least half an hour inspecting all caps when I walk into stores trying to buy an onfield.
For me it seems like US hats still are lesser quality... but boy do they fit good on my head. I think I changed my mind about buying Chinese over US made, US made caps really do feel better on my head and I guess thats all that should matter at the end of the day |

I agree with the better fit on USA made over China.
Ordering online is a crapshoot but sometimes it is worth it because that is the only way to get a certain hat.
Nothing worse than a hat that doesn't fit right. |

And lasty again, the logo
Right off the bat you can scope the fuked up ass logo around his arms, the stitching got out of control there...
and the stitching at the bottom also got out of control. Like I said the hat isn't even a month old, and its really coming undone towards the bottom
Theres also a few factors that I cant really take pictures of, its just noticed through feeling the hats:
-My Rockies hat is far more softer, feeling more like true polyester, where as my A's hat almost feels like wool.... its really really rough compared to my Rockies hat
- The brims, my god the brims. If you look at the first picture, you can tell how much curved my Rockies brim is, I love wearing it curved like that... and my A's hat won't keep the brim shape for long, as I have to constantly bend the brim to the shape I want. My Rockies brim stays intact for weeks where as my A's brim only lasts a few hours
But yeah... thats my 2 cents on the subject, or maybe Im just super paranoid about authenticity haha |
Bro nice review btw China and USA made. I thought Made in China in the first place is fake because I do own on-field caps exactly just like yours. After seeing the comparison, China seems to make better quality caps compare to US made. Now I got nothing to worry abt. |

Could. Not. Agree. More.
There is no realm of reality or fiction where Chinese made NE's are equal let alone better than their American cousins. _________________ It's always a better day when you're in a hat |

Absolutely! Just got my Niners Onfield hat yesterday. Of course, it's made in China and the brim is hard like concrete. The other well-known quality issues for Chinese made caps notwithstanding. How I wish to get that hat made in the good old Unites States of America! |

So yesterday I received a shipment from Lids, in which I picked up a Angels 50th anniversary hat. Wow, was it horrible. First thing I did was check to see if it was made in China and it was. Next I put it on and of course it did not fit. The hat was too big like almost every other hat I own that is made in China. Then the worst part was the 50th patch on the side of the hat had a lighter shade of red in a rectangle a 1/4 inch around the whole patch. I drove the hat straight to the mall and exchanged it for a normal on-field Angels hat. Good work new era!!
Does anyone here have a 50th anniversary Angels red game cap? I want to know if all the hats have the rectangle off-colored red box around the patch? |

I don't see the red box you speak of on my hat (also made in China), so it may be unique to yours.

Yeah, I have 3 50th Anniversary Angels hat's because a.) I couldn't help myself and b.) because my eyes have only recently been opened to the fact that half these hats are made in China in the first place. The 50th throwback hats were attractive to me because this is the first time I've seen the much heavier embossed logo, but you guys are right. The brim is oddly stiff, there are loose stitching everywhere, even on the main emblem it'self. The sizes are wildly inconsistent, though I've found that to be pretty true with US made as well. But the US hats are far and away better. The crown fits your head more naturally, the polyester is softer, the stitching is better. The USA hats are superior in almost every way. Something I have noticed though that the OP mentioned is the quality of the NE stamp inside the hat and the black embossed NE pin. The newest USA on fields I have are both at least 2 years old. The chinese throwbacks indeed have better detailing here. Maybe this isn't the case if I walk into the team store today? I'll be getting a new one soon, I'll post results. |

| It's frustrating. I find if i'm trying on a 100% wool cap, my size is 7 1/8 - but can go to 7 1/4. When I try on-field caps, I always get 7 1/4 and they usually fit well - except my two Boston Red Sox caps which at 7 1/4 are just too big so I might need to go down to 7 1/8 in those. Wish it was consistent as it's so hard to order from Australia with the $50 shipping some places charge! |

Excellent topic highlighting the pro's and con's of US vs China made (on-fields) . Being over in Europe, Netherlands to be exact I usually order online from the US.
Friend of mine had a Yankees cap from like a decade ago bought at Footlocker locally. Didn't have that boxy look that we see in the local stores all the time and discovered the "low profile" label inside. This started my search on the web and led me here a year ago and the minorleagues shop in turn (thx for that ).
So back to China mades vs: since I order for some friend as well on occasion and some prefer the regular high crown, most have been China made (think one MiLB might be US made) but like the OP says the China made ones look much cleaner in finish. You'd think the US mades were rejects at times in comparison or fakes even ...
But as also mentioned here: on the other hand the material difference is definitely noticeable. China ones feel harder (might be thinner?) and look very boxy.
Thought I'd reply since I only read about p.o.s. cr*p China made ones here yesterday going through a hundred pages or so and glad I bumped into at least some counterweight .
Stitching is crooked on US ones as well, loose threads all over and variations in fit for the same size ... |

You crazy? USA seems to be leaps and bounds over a Chinese cap, all of the way from the stitching to the material used _________________ Visit my blog @ http://neweramlb.blogspot.com/ |
