One of the hats is a two tone. _________________ It's always a better day when you're in a hat |

| Did I see a grey underbrim on that hat or is that a function of making the photo lighter? |

I noticed that too, I just assumed it was pre-production. _________________ Visit my blog @ http://neweramlb.blogspot.com/ |

Or a function of Creamer changing the contrast. _________________ It's always a better day when you're in a hat |

| Sounds pretty cool. Nothing that the tigers would do. I do think the tigers could use an alternate. Kind of like how the giants have two grays, they should use one 79 and one regular jersey. |
As a Tigers fan, I agree with you. I think just one for the road, a simple navy jersey with the Old English D in orange (to match the road cap) with orange trim would suffice for me. I love how we always wear white at home and don't think we need a home alternate jersey. _________________ New Era Cap Collecting Since 1992 |

| I like it that the Tigers (along with a few other teams) have no alternate jerseys. We need teams like that to offset the teams who seem to wear their alternate jerseys every other game... |

That list of teams is really tiny now. Isn't it just the Yankees and Tigers that have no alternate jerseys at this point? Am I missing a team? _________________ New Era Cap Collecting Since 1992 |

I think the Cards only sport an alt cap, as stated above.
Did LA have an alt-jersey when they wore the cap that had the LA and the brim in shiny silver embroidery or was it cap only?
The Tigers used to have an alternate jersey around the turn of the millenium(alt caps were D-Tiger and D with orange brim) which I guess leaves only the Yankees and I'm sure at least one or two others. _________________ Coming Soon: Link to collection |

Dodgers had a jersey to pair with the hat, they were worn twice (one in the infamous Kung fu kick Dodgers/Angels inter league game) and then the team burned the hats and jerseys in the bullpen before a game as a slump buster. (Appreantly no hefty chicks were available to sleep with)
The Tigers jersey was introduced in 1995 worn once and then shelved, they were still available as an option to be worn in 1996. The hat was around since 1994 and was a road alt (they had the orange billed hat too) that hung around until 1997 or so. _________________ It's always a better day when you're in a hat |

I always feel--and this could be totally off base--that it's all about revenue. New hats and jerseys also mean new replica hats and jerseys, t-shirts, other paraphernalia featuring the new logo/jersey/hat.
Just look at my beloved Braves:
Prior to 2005 they had no alternates, then corporate ownership takes over and we get the god-awful red home alts and tomahawk hats in 2005, the navy alts and navy hats in 08, then we got the cream alts prior to this season.
In a span of 7 years they went from 2 unis to 5. Walk around Turner Field and now it's a colorful mishmash of fans wearing all sorts of uni combinations. More revenue for MLB and the teams.
Personally, I hope the Tigers, Dodgers, and Yankees stick to their guns and keep the simple home/road set-up and that's it. Far more classy than having alts for every day of the week. _________________ Check out my blog!

What else would it be about? There is no practical purpose for an alternate uni or a 'postseason patch'.
Wait until you see where the 3930's end up next year.... _________________ It's always a better day when you're in a hat |

From UniWatch today:
The very last sentence of the very first Uni Watch column, published in the Village Voice in 1999, was “Can the postgame interview cap be far behind?” Now a little birdie tells me that the Mets (and presumably all MLB teams) may have ” “locker room/interview cap” next season. Moral of the story: Be careful what you (rhetorically) ask for. |
